Polinchock Secures Well Water Treatment and Alternate Supply Grant
8/18/2020
CHALFONT – Rep. Todd Polinchock (R-Bucks) announced that the North Wales Water Authority has been awarded a Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) grant to address contamination in the local water supply.

“I am thrilled to announce one of the most sought-after state grants is being used to fund clean water for our families and neighbors,” Polinchock said. “Progress on this issue has made me very proud, and I will continue to push for clean water as this is still just the beginning of our effort.”

The more than $882,000 grant will be used to equip four groundwater supply wells with ion exchange and granular activated carbon (GAC) treatment systems to reduce the amount of PFC’s in the drinking water to a “non-detect” level.

The levels of contamination in the water are increasing, and the authority plans to correct this situation by installing 4,570 linear feet of water line. The total project cost is $2,930,000.

“Our community has fought hard and deserves clean water. They have urged local and state agencies to take this issue as seriously and as personally as they do,” Polinchock said.

The H20 PA program, administered by the CFA, provides single-year and multi-year grants for the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer projects; the construction or renovation of flood control projects; and the repair or rehabilitation of high-hazard unsafe dams.
